Jacaranda

This poem is about an evening which i really enjoyed (unlike my other works this doesn't have a great plot but is my attempt to best describe a scene poetically, with a little use of imagination)

today i lay on a bench under a tree
trying to set my wandering soul free
taking back from the world, what its taken from me

then, a thought ran across my mind
and i forgot what i was there to find
as if all anger and stress was left behind, when

I looked up and saw the wind blowing through the leaves
putting the ever standing tree at ease
i started wondering "why is the tree so much at peace?"

like a damselle who enjoys the attention that she gets
the tree was overflowing with joy and mischief.
Mustering up courage i managed to ask "By what name are you addressed?"
"Jacaranda" she said, hearing which I was mesmerised.

Next to her stood another old tree
she introduced her to me, as her granny
who, on me greeting her, waved at me

the wind then gathered pace
she moved like a melody in perfect grace
the quiet girl had gone, leaving no trace
and there stood 'the lady in green' in her place

When i took my eyes off jacaranda to gaze at the moonlit sky
i broke her heart in two ...... and it was as if she was ready to cry
but she didn't................ and gathered herself back
as she knew that she had to get my attention back.

suddenly i heard the giggling of jacaranda and her granny
who had been through these situations, when she hadn't grey hair any

the trick encapsulated me like an insect in a jar
i had to take my eyes off the crescent moon and twinkling star
and give her all the attention that she deserved

having got my eyes on her she now swayed like an orchestrated symphony
with every single movement selected very carefully
the giggle now taking the form of a shying smile
generating excitement both in the audience and the performer with each passing gaze
i felt i could spend years sitting at the very same place

i could sense the granny getting tensed
wondering whether Jacaranda would be able to maintain interest
but like a pro, she rose to the ocassion
and outperformed all expectation

Oh! i wish i could have spent some more time with the lady in green
but was abruptly interupted by a friend who couldn't stand this flirtatious love affair
so he called out for me from where he couldn't be seen
and i had to leave the place in utter despair.
